Texas Tech Snags Former Attorney General

Former embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has found a new job, the Austin American-Statesman and the New York Times report. Gonzales will teach a "special topics" political science course on contemporary executive-branch issues at Texas Tech University starting this fall, says Dora Rodriguez, a senior business assistant in the political science department at the university. Chancellor Kent Hance of the Texas Tech System confirmed the hiring.

Gonzales served as former President George W. Bush's personal lawyer when Bush governed Texas and as a Texas Supreme Court justice before joining Bush's administration in Washington. Two years ago, Gonzales resigned from his post as attorney general amid allegations of perjury before Congress about the unlawful firing of seven U.S. attorneys.
